Maurice pops up!

Last weekend was the Vintage Village Christmas fair and Maurice's debut as a pop-up shop.
It was all very exciting and a little bit stressful.
Would Maurice handle the journey ok?
Would people come and visit our new pop-ip shop?
Would Maurice be a good pop-up shop?

I needn't have worried. He made the journey without even a wobble and he looked like a proper little shop, better than I dreamed he would be.
We had so many visitors that people were waiting to pop in at times, just fantastic.

I set him up as planned. He looked a little bit like a junk shop from the outside but on the inside he was a very organised....one could say sleek...a real shop.
I was so proud.

We sold lots of goodies to people looking for perfect Christmas presents. I sat very happily in the corner, sipping mulled wine (thanks B) and had lots of lovely chats with our visitors.

It really was the most magical day, something I want to repeat in the future.

Thank you if you came to visit us and support us, it meant so much.
The days went by so quickly and I felt a real loss on the Monday that it was all over.
I am now completely and utterly in the Christmas mood. Glad to be able to chill out and be at home more.
Maurice is parked up, right where I can see him. I love him more than I did before.
I hope to share more adventures that we have together, who knows where the roads will take us.
Thanks for reading. X

Maurice - Pop Up Shop

                                                                          Hello!
The last few days have been just a little hectic.
I have had a trip to Harrrogate, a Secret Tea Party, A Lo-Fi Christmas Party, a trip to the Manchester Christmas Markets but more than anything I have been working with Maurice, out on the drive.

Maurice has been a bit redundant since the weather turned chilly.
I was finding it hard to look at him through the window…all neglected and lonesome.
but then an idea sprang to mind, a most brill idea.
Could Maurice become a little mobile shop for an upcoming special event?
Could that event be the Vintage Village Christmas Market weekend spectacular?

After a chat and a coffee with Mrs Vintage Village maurice and I were in.
I have not been so excited about anything in quite a while!

Maurice would get a new special Christmas coat
Maurice would spill vintage treasure from his door, suitcases, mirrors, toys….
Inside he would become a sleek, retro inspired gift shop.
He would sell the best PRINTS
His little sliding doors would be slid right back to reveal pretty pottery and retro plastics.

Now let me tell you something in a bossy fashion if I may (I'm going to anyway).
I have kept a lot of treasure in my secret treasure chest, out of sight of my camera.
The pictures you see above are a mere taster of what is to come, mere snippets of how Maurice will look on the day.
I will be at Vintage Village, with Maurice on Friday, Saturday and of course, the biggie, Sunday
You absolutely must come and visit us.
It is not to be missed!!

Come and say hi, there will be a spare seat in Maurice if you need to rest those weary shopping feet.

an accident in the bedroom

be prepared for a rather sorry story if you will
this all goes back a while, actually to the night before we went on our family holiday
everyone was rather excited, there was a lot of frolicking, and then 'it' happened
next thing I know Mr Betty is looking down upon a badly damaged rod, I knew then that things would never be the same in our bedroom

it took 3 months
a trip to Macclesfield
much discussion over a possible size reduction
but eventually….

….we have a new bed
we also have a new NO BOUNCING ON THE BED rule (adults not included)
Mr Betty likes to joke that we should have clipboards on the end of our new crib stating any current ailments, food intolerances etc. I don't find him funny

the new bed gave me an excuse for a good reshuffle, it doesn't take much
I am rather happy with the fresh new look

top tip-rather than purchasing new furniture I just painted some old mismatched pieces of Ikea
I used a standard emulsion and then gave them a top coat of Farrow and Ball Eggshell Varnish

It's beginning to feel a lot like…...

I'm getting that feeling.
I have started to think seriously about Christmas (but not that seriously).
I have purchased a few gifts and dreamed about the tree I will be buying this year.
I have even kind of worked out where said tree will stand, always a bit tricky in a slightly cluttered house ;-)

Yesterday at the charity shop I stumbled upon a very old suitcase, and when I opened her up I discovered she contained the most perfect selection of old deco's.
This find is the kind of thing that my dreams are made of, old suitcase included.

I selected a few bits that made my heart tinkle and left a few bits for others.
I thought I would share so that you, if not  'feeling the feeling' thus far, may be flung straight into Christmas thoughts of the best kind.

these were always my favourites

Woolies, how I miss thee

perfection

I will be on the look out for old deco's wherever I go now and I can't wait to get my old ones out and rediscover all the ones I have bought in the past.

I am going to have a miniature tree for all the teeny Woolworths baubles or maybe even a branch.
I shall discuss with Mr Betty about his branch dangling abilities (sounds a bit cheeky!!)

Are you already plotting and planning Christmas?
Have you found any gems?

I will be back tomorrow with my Vintage Village picture and tonight I will be attending the very first 'Doll House Club' meeting.
I am pretty sure that DHC will need a blog post all of its own!

Thanks for reading. x
