just added these old faces to my Etsy shelves

slightly simplified ingredients
hair already firmly set in place
two different facial expressions, one rather like mine when I realised 2 of my boys would be at home today ;-)

they are just fab as a little stocking filler

I am offering any cushion from my Etsy shelves, to my blog readers, for the bargain price of £20 plus postage
you can find them all HERE

an accident in the bedroom

be prepared for a rather sorry story if you will
this all goes back a while, actually to the night before we went on our family holiday
everyone was rather excited, there was a lot of frolicking, and then 'it' happened
next thing I know Mr Betty is looking down upon a badly damaged rod, I knew then that things would never be the same in our bedroom

it took 3 months
a trip to Macclesfield
much discussion over a possible size reduction
but eventually….

….we have a new bed
we also have a new NO BOUNCING ON THE BED rule (adults not included)
Mr Betty likes to joke that we should have clipboards on the end of our new crib stating any current ailments, food intolerances etc. I don't find him funny

the new bed gave me an excuse for a good reshuffle, it doesn't take much
I am rather happy with the fresh new look

top tip-rather than purchasing new furniture I just painted some old mismatched pieces of Ikea
I used a standard emulsion and then gave them a top coat of Farrow and Ball Eggshell Varnish

Friday 15 November 2013

It's beginning to feel a lot like…...

I'm getting that feeling.
I have started to think seriously about Christmas (but not that seriously).
I have purchased a few gifts and dreamed about the tree I will be buying this year.
I have even kind of worked out where said tree will stand, always a bit tricky in a slightly cluttered house ;-)

Yesterday at the charity shop I stumbled upon a very old suitcase, and when I opened her up I discovered she contained the most perfect selection of old deco's.
This find is the kind of thing that my dreams are made of, old suitcase included.

I selected a few bits that made my heart tinkle and left a few bits for others.
I thought I would share so that you, if not  'feeling the feeling' thus far, may be flung straight into Christmas thoughts of the best kind.

these were always my favourites

Woolies, how I miss thee

perfection

I will be on the look out for old deco's wherever I go now and I can't wait to get my old ones out and rediscover all the ones I have bought in the past.

I am going to have a miniature tree for all the teeny Woolworths baubles or maybe even a branch.
I shall discuss with Mr Betty about his branch dangling abilities (sounds a bit cheeky!!)

Are you already plotting and planning Christmas?
Have you found any gems?

I will be back tomorrow with my Vintage Village picture and tonight I will be attending the very first 'Doll House Club' meeting.
I am pretty sure that DHC will need a blog post all of its own!

Vintage Village pre-fair sneaky peep

Hello!
I am more than a touch giddy.
This weekend will see me and my stall returning to Vintage Village.
I have had rather an extended break, I always feel my stall has to be just right.

As it is nearing Christmas I have tried to include something for everyone.

the bestest wool ties for the stylish man

travelling over the Christmas break….

travel in style

the perfect gift for a crafty friend

and if but he end of it, like myself, you find you need to rock in a corner…..
the most perfectly compact rocker
the cushion is obviously essential too!

This is merely a taster
As I price, sort, titivate throughout tomorrow I will be posting more teasers,
watch this space…
Anything you fancy so far?

I hope to see you there. It promises to be fab as always.

he is a man

Scary times.
My eldest son turns 18 today.
I am not what one would describe as 'a gusher' but I just have to say a few things on this monumental day.
These are the things that stand out about my eldest boy.

Jack has been a dream child and I don't say that lightly.
Yes, he is a bit cheeky, mostly silly, but we seem to have completely bypassed any horrible teenager years.
He was my only baby that could be plonked in his cot at 7 and left to doze off.
He carried a football under each arm from the moment he could walk. he walked at 10 months.

Jack still has the same friends that he has had since being a toddler even though they went their seperate ways for secondary school. He is a very loyal friend.

Jack has been dating Plum for over 2 years now. They had been good friends since very young and they are one of the best couples I know....

Jack is studying for his A-Levels at the moment, I am very proud.
He also has a part time job and never asks me for any money (thank goodness as I rarely have any)
Jack was once signed for MUFC, he is a life long Manchester City fan so it was difficult for him.
He was and is an amazing footballer.

Jack used to wear his hair very long. He has thick, thick curls.
When he decided to go short the hairdresser got through 3 combs during the procedure.

If it wasn't for Jacks help with his youngest brother, Mr Betty and I would have found life very hard.
Mikey has been a very bad sleeper due to health problems and Jack has settled him, slept with him and helped him in the night on numerous occasions enabling us to get many good nights of sleep.

Jack makes us all laugh every day, His sense of humour is beyond stupid but he is the funniest person I know and I know for a fact that Mr Betty feels exactly the same.
He can have his little brother in tears of laughter. This happens a lot.

Jack reminds me of my Dad.

He is obsessed with fashion and is always perfectly turned out.
He likes to wear his polo shirt buttoned to the neck.
He is fastidious about cleanliness. He showers often and they last a ridiculous amount of time.

Jack loves music. Most of his nights out are to gigs. He loves the same music as I did as a teenager.
He loves Manchester.
Although he is well travelled he has already decided that Manchester is the place for him.
He gets on the train 'to town' often.

Jack has had a MCFC season ticket for 12 years and has rarely missed a match...home or away.

the pyjama top that he called his 'little jacket'

Jack is not too sure what he wants to do in the future but I know for a fact, whatever he does, he will do well and be very happy.

Tonight is going to be family affair.
Takeout (Chinese, his favourite)
Mum has baked his fave Choc Fudge cake.
Later we will be taking him to the pub where we will meet up with his Dad.
His Dad will be buying him his first pint.

There is lots more I could say.
Happy Birthday Jack!!
